Kansas City Ballet School 2011 Summer Intensive

The Kansas City Ballet School's Summer Intensive runs from June 13 – July 15, 2011. The five-week program offers classes for students ages 11 – 21 years.

A highly concentrated curriculum in the Kansas City Ballet studios that includes Ballet Technique, Pointe, Repertoire, Men’s Technique, Character, Modern, Jazz and Partnering (taught for the highest level).

Also classes in Music, Dance History, Conditioning, Pilates, Make Up, Resume Writing, Stage and Theater Readiness/Awareness and Nutrition are part of this program.

Students will showcase their progress in a studio demonstration on Friday, July 15, 2010. (Time TBA)

Kansas City Ballet School reserves the right to place students in the appropriate level and to revise the curriculum and placement, as necessary.

Audition Requirements
Please provide two photos: a 4x6 headshot with hair up and 4x6 first arabesque shot. Photos must be printed on photo paper and must be presented at time of audition.

Video Audition
If unable to attend an audition, one may submit a video / DVD by March 5, 2011.

No Video / DVD’s will be returned unless accompanied by an enclosed self addressed and stamped envelope.

Video / DVD Audition fee, $25.

3) 10 Minute videotape(1/2 inch VHS) or DVD with musical accompaniment including:

After you have been accepted, please check back to download the summer intensive packet.

Housing
Supervised room and board accommodations for student’s ages 12 years and older is available on the lovely campus of the Kansas City Art Institute (4415 Warwick Blvd., KCMO 64111) near the Country Club Plaza.

Chaperones provide close supervision. Transportation is provided to and from classes as well as to scheduled activities.

A $300 residence hall deposit is required to reserve housing accommodations. This deposit is applied towards the total housing cost.

Activities Fee
The dormitory students attend activities on evenings and weekends that in the past have included a Kansas City Royals baseball game, Wizards soccer match, Worlds of Fun Amusement Park, Starlight Theater productions as well Shakespeare in the Park, the Kemper and Nelson Atkins Museums and of course, shopping at The Legends.
The activity fee is required by all students in residence housing.

There is a $350 activity fee required for non dormitory students. This fee will apply to all non-dormitory students wishing to participate in the activities.

Scholarships
The school offers a limited amount of scholarships for the Summer Intensive.
Awards are based on merit as well as need.
Merit scholarships are awarded at the time of acceptance.

Deadlines
Jan/Feb Audition Tour (audition results will be mailed within 2 weeks of the audition)
March 5, 2011 - Video Auditions with audition fee due
March 19, 2011 - Application & Deposit(s) for Tuition ($300) and Housing ($300) due, Scholarship applications due
April 30, 2011 - Balance of Tuition, Activity and Housing fees due

Payments received after deadline are subject to late a $150 fee.

Payment by installment may be made upon approval of the School Administration. All payments must be made in full by the start of the program.
