Cha Cha Dance

Cha Cha DanceThe Cha-Cha dance is a dance that originated in Cuba, and is most widely recognized by its characteristic quick three steps, (a triple step or cha cha cha,) and two slow steps on the one and two beat; one-two-three, cha cha CHA! When the Cha-Cha came to America, it was actually danced closer to that of the Mambo. However, many American audiences felt the Mambo was too fast and jerky, so the dance was slowed down about three times, and thus became the Cha-Cha fiesta dance!

Despite its slower pace than the Mambo, the Cha-Cha is still an energetic dance, with its quick and sexy hip movements to a blend of jazz and Latin rhythm.

Cha-Cha music is popular in and can be danced to, all music genres, including hip hop, funk, and country.

Popular mainstream artists such as Santana, Marc Anthony, and Jennifer Lopez have great contemporary Cha-Cha music that can be heard at any dance party.

Char-Cha music emulates a carefree, joyous mood that makes you wanna get up and Cha-Cha-CHA! Below is a link to a page that suggests other kinds of Cha-Cha songs and music.
