The Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet 5 Week Summer Ballet Program runs from Saturday, June 25 – Saturday, July 30, 2011. Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet has prepared dancers for the world’s top ballet companies since 1955. The CYPYB 5-Week Summer Ballet Program provides unparalleled technical training for beginning, intermediate, advanced and professional dancers. The August course runs Monday, August 8 – Friday, August 19, 2011. Auditions are not required for summer ballet programs.

The 5 Week Ballet Intensive:
While studying at CPYB’s summer intensive program, students will benefit from the:

Special 2011 Opportunity – Stars of CPYB!
Students in the Summer Program will have the opportunity to experience this ONE-NIGHT-ONLY, STAR-STUDDED GALA when the school’s illustrious alumni, from companies around the world, return to honor Founding Artistic Director, Marcia Dale Weary.
Summer students participate in a comprehensive curriculum of 16 or more ballet classes per week that bring together the finest in technique and artistry. Course work includes Ballet Technique, and for those who quality: Pointe, Variations, Partnering, Modern and Men’s class. Optional supplemental classes, encompassing fitness and other genres of dance, provide the opportunity for the dancer to expand their base of knowledge and experience other forms of dance.
Students begin their program by attending a welcome diner and a performance that is pat of CPYB’s June Series. The performance offers a glimpse of the high level of artistic ability and technical proficiency that have established CPYB as one of the world’s premier schools of classical ballet.
Supervised housing, with on-call health care and physical therapy, is available on the beautiful campus of Dickinson College for students ages 11 and older. Located in the heart of historic Carlisle, the Dickinson campus features an Olympic-size indoor swimming pool, workout facilities, bookstore, coffee shop, convenience store, and one of the top-ranked college dining services in the country–all within walking distance of CPYB’s Warehouse Studios.

The August Course:
Classes for CPYB’s August Course are taught by CPYB permanent faculty, chaired by Founding Artistic Director Marcia Dale Weary. During these two weeks, students may choose either or both weeks for study. The course is intensive and focuses on refining ballet technique and developing strength and stamina. There is no housing available on Dickinson College campus during August Course.
